Solved Location Grouping

Post by birdyboy on Sun 22 May 2011, 8:54 pm

Is there a way through the site that we can add ourselves to a region/location mapper in order to be able to advertise to other CB owners in our area of possible ride outs? Would make it easier to target those people close enough to make a meeting point?

Birdyboy,

Not sure if you've seen my post for the Eastern region on the Meets/Rideouts section? Are you still on for the September run?

When I open the website initially, everything displays OK but within a split second, all the print flips over to the right and everything on the right hand side is then cut off. How do I avoid this happening?

I've just fixed the link, it was pointing to the old domain. Can you try it again? I just loaded it up fine in IE11 Smile

Hello teamster1975, I can read your message because it's shorter than a line, but all the other messages, including my own, have a few words at the right hand end cut off.

I'm using Opera. I've just tried Internet Explorer and it's OK with that. It appears it's a Opera browser fault then.

It must be the way the frames are rendered; I've not used Opera myself, tested ok with Chrome and Firefox. Sorry about that!

Would it be possible to put our rough location on our posts, on the left where the avatar is?
Would help if anyone needed techy advice if the knowledgeable one was close by.
Also when selling/buying stuff it would be useful.

Just a thought Very Happy

^ good post.

There is probably a way of doing this.  I'm pretty sure that there is a 'location' field in everyones profile.

I don't have the permissions to do it, but I bet there is a way of getting it displayed along with your avatar/username.

I had a look at this earlier, no you cannot display the location field in posts. I'll hack through the help forums to see if it can be added as a custom field, I would have thought it's possible and it is a good idea!

If it can't be done as you suggest, what about using the signature facility?

Yes that would work although PHPBB allows showing location so I cannot see why forumotion won't Smile
