LED turn signals problems Empty LED turn signals problems

Post by garddun on Wed 17 Apr 2019, 9:25 pm

Hi, I damaged the front turn signals, and thought i should switch them out for some LED ones. I got all four LED turn signals and a new relay. First, the relay was the wrong one (i think, i bought one with three pins, two in line, and one turned 90 degrees). They said it was the right one, but from the manual (and actual bike) it was different (tree small pins in one line). Does anybody know where to buy the right one, or what i should do?

Then I thought i should just try the new turn signals with the old relay, and the two in the front worked fine (but with super rapid flashes). Then, when i tried to fit the two at the back, it didnt work anymore. With just one LED in the back, it worked to signal one way (say left), and when i tried to signal right, all four flashed. If i switched out all four, nothing happend.

Anyone have any idea?

No idea really...
I've changed all four indicators to a halogen-type and to compensate for the reduced wattage I replaced the relay with a generic (speed-adjustable) type matching your description perfectly. To do that, I had to cut into the loom, which is one of the things i really hate to do - it can't be un-altered...
However, the process has one advantage; it lets me use generic indicator relays.

So, replacing the OE relay (which is NOT a standard form-factor) with a generic one - possibly electronic and maybe even with an adjustable timing - is a start.

Moving on to LED indicators.
I've been told that those don't work well with the CB's single 'Turn' instrument light. To make it work, extra wiring is required. Try searching the forum - solutions are available, because you're not the first to attempt this Smile
