throttle "travel" - too much twist?

Post by trevor machine on Thu 27 Sep 2018, 4:51 pm

Do you ever get this - I sometimes feel that the bike's throttle has too much twist to it. I'm not a nutter but I ride flat a fair bit on it, i.e. on the stop, wringing revs and power from the bike. But I almost have to give two twists, as it were - otherwise my wrist is at 90 degrees. And this pisses me off a bit. I wish there was a bit less wind - say, 10-15%. I know that on the MT07 people have similar experiences and have swapped the throttle tube for a R6, so there isn't as much twist. This is generally much preferred by those who've tried the mod.

I have the same problem, and have to 'double grab' to wind it on.

I remember Jerryfudd did some kind of throttle upgrade to fix this.

Maybe ask the same question of the racing boys on the Thundersport FB group. They must have a solution.

Somewhere on this site someone (probably Jerryfudd) listed the dimensions for a piece of material to go under the throttle cable at the bars... I've had these dimensions noted down for about 3 years without actually doing anything about it : )

throttle cable mod (31mm inside diameter 2.1mm depth  7mm wide)

It feels the same on mine, but I got used to it (as with many other things on the bike Very Happy).

There are two topics on the throttle tube action:

Also made much worse if you have *slightly* slipping heated grips... Wink
