Looks like a good alternative to K&N but not much cheaper - https://www.e-dnafilters.co.uk/product/Motorcycle-Filters/Honda/DNA-0238/R-H4S94-01/Honda-CB-400-SF-(94-97)---CB-500-(04-06)-DNA-Air-Filter?utm_campaign=dnafilters&utm_medium=dnafilters&utm_source=w_dnafilter Does anyone have experience with these?

This shouldn't be a problem, the engine is the same. There are minimal changes between the two models. Comparing the filter dimensions on the k&n web site there are few millimetres here and there but it should fit no problem.
