You don’t stop riding because you’re getting old, but you get old when you stop riding.

What did you do with your CB500 today?

UK....Heated grips? Year round necessity no?

If not a relay fit a big bright LED near the ign. switch! Once bitten, twice bitten again in my experience, but then again that's me, derrr! Rolling Eyes

I pride  myself on being a hardy Northerner motofan.  The suns out so I'm secretly going room to room switching of the underfloor heating off around the house;  might be back on when the wife finds out :-)

Anyway MOT passed.  1 advisory note = loud exhaust.  Isn't that the point  Very Happy

Good man, just a southern softie me nowadays.
I bet the exhaust won't match the volume from your missus when she finds out about the heating! affraid

Not today but Wednesday just gone - decided to try to get to the bottom of why my bike's not playing with the optimate. It actually only took a few seconds - the charger lead has its own 15A fuse, which had blown. Replaced and it's fine. One slight question - why did it go in the first place? I *think* I've got the answer to that too. Months back, when I was having all that aggro with the bike not starting (due to the fact that sediment from the tank had knackered the float valves iirc), I'd left the battery hooked up to the optimate whilst cranking the starter. I don't think the bike and/or the charger like this. Hence the charger lead's fuse blew.

Well today I replaced the sprocket carrier bearing and went of a blast up the antrim coast again.

I was caning it, most corners between 60 and 80 entry speed and leaving them more than what I entered them. Managed to blow a fork seal mid corner but stopped for a drink and spotted it before it leaked onto my brake caliper. Seemingly the fork seal has resealed itself and isn't leaking oil, will be something I'll be keeping an eye on though, as I'm doing approx 300 miles on thursday evening until 2am on friday morning going back home to the mainland for easter weekend.

Went for une petite promenade round the smaller & more scenic roads to see my friend and have a cuppa. Quite cold on the old lallies so I put my overtrousers on on the return. The roads were largely dry but quite a few damp patches under trees and of course MUD near farm & field entrances!

Nice to have a little wander though, 'specially as I'm new to the bike but it's proving great. High hopes for the summer and warmer times. cheers

Washed mine today - took almost all afternoon - mainly due to my overall tardiness in the cleaning department - due to not being the biggest fan of washing down a bike daily after a 25 mile commute in the freezing cold temperatures we've had.  I'm more of a bath it all in ACF50 at the start of the winter type guy Very Happy   Anyway, she scrubbed up pretty well - even though I had to use almost a third of a large bottle of Muc - off (other proprietary bike cleaners are available).

I'll bet there won't be anybody there tomorrow James. Of course there won't be anything but sleet and rain either. Today is the only decent day we've had weatherwise  for about the last fortnight. yesterday was baltic.

Got back to where I'm staying and go to take a photo of the oil my leaky front shocks are leaning all over the engine look at the rear and notice more oil.
After 44,000 miles of me the TEC rear shock seals have blown

Today my petrol leak got worse.

It pours out when you start the engine.
Didn't ride it for fear of fire.
Looks like my day tomorrow has been decided upon.

Hopefully it is just where the pipe attaches.

Bit of an update,
got one of my cb5's mot'd with no dramas, always a happy moment.

Went through my spares trying to make space and got a spare carbon exhaust, hanger, bars, pads etc surplus so boxed them up then decided to keep 'em just-in-case...

I'm currently overhauling the lump of mud that is my bike and first on the job list was to fit the stainless steel engine bolts

So who's a lucky boy then?

No polishing? Nothing? Mine don't even come close - I think of 'em as 'theft prevention' looking. No one in their right mind would contemplate stealing a bike looking as scruffy as mine....

I did them with a wire brush in an electric drill and finished with Scotchbrite to give a finish that looks approximately like they do when new. I think it is called a 'linished' surface. The lacquer is so that it will stay shiny and oily marks may be wiped off easily.

Rode mine for the first time with my new hip. Felt GREAT to be back on it.

After about 7 months dormant, with the occasional battery charge, it started and ran like a Swiss watch.

So Sullivj- How did you find riding with your replacement hip :roll:Not to bad I hope.I get the occasional twinge on a long ride, but find if I stretch the leg out it goes.Mind you I have had both replaced.
It is worse in cold weather but now summer has arrived for the next few days at least.Yipee
Enjoy your riding  Cool Cool
