Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

........

well, my battery struggled in the coldest days this winter.
I had to bump start a few times.

Does that mean that the battery is on its last legs?
as in, is it giving me fair warning?
Or, once recharged, it will be ok for the rest of the year do you reckon?

We don't get all that many cold days down here.

Mine has finally given up. I neglected to put it on trickle charge over winter and paid the price. It wouldn't charge up after months of ridiculous temperatures. Seems  a decent one will be around 40 to 50 quid.

Bugger.
I thought that was the case.

Well, it will have to wait anyway. I don't have the money.
At least I know it bump starts easily  Smile

Yup, looks that way.

I am just curious how old the battery is, but I can't seem to work out the code.

Am I being thick?
I have tried googling.

Found the answer on a Vespa Forum:-

3 - 2003
L - December
11 - 11th day
G - Factory

The code used now (probably since 2010) is longer, 6 digits for the date YYMMDD followed by a letter and a number for factory and shift. see http://www.yuasabatteries.com/pdfs/NP_date_code.pdf

Ah, brilliant, well found. Thanks.
So, I guess I shouldn't be disappointed with that then eh?
