Hi 
Had my bike about two years,really low mileage,it's about 40K altogether.I will get a full service,so :

Honda dealer or independent ?

Price ? (North London)

Should I get shims done ?

might as well let them do it while they are on with the service saves taking it back again later

Personally I do the servicing myself if I can.

If I couldn't or didn't want to do it myself then I'd go to an independent, ideally one that I'd had a recommendation to. Sadly I can't give any recommendations as I don't live in London!

I've found that the price Honda dealers want to charge wasn't commensurate with the level of service they gave. But if you are unsure then get some quotes - I suspect you'll find the independents cheaper and (if manage to find a good one) better too.
