Where do I mount my front LED auxiliary lights?

Post by Phil07952 on Tue 24 Oct 2017, 10:20 pm

I've just got myself some of these
I can't think how to mount them though. I have a 98 CB500S. The brackets supplied are way too small to fit round the forks, and I do they think the screws holding on the front faring will be strong enough to take the weight.

Any ideas guys?

Cheers, Phil

I bet those clips are the right size for fitting round the handlebars, so you can fit them underneath the bars like what happens on some Harleys. If you want to fit them to a CB500S you will probably have to devise your own mounting method.

It all depends on how much work/alteration you want to do - you might be able to drill some holes in the radiator shrouds and mount them on there (they don't weigh too much, I suspect).

How about the wing mirror stems? You'd have to pack out the brackets of course or modify, could look cool though.

^ That's a better idea than mine! BTW if you do mount them on the bike then make sure there is some way of switching them off, in case the MOT man takes offence...

I've seen a picture of a CB500S with additional lights in the fake air intakes on either sides of the fairing, the slits had been cut to make an appropriate sized hole, looked kewl and dicreet.

Great idea, that's what I have been fiddling with yesterday afternoon and today.
They look great in the redundant mirror stems on the 500s, have wired them to come on when ignition is turned on.
Not posting a picture yet, because the bracket need altering,(and it looks a bit Naff) so that the Led's don't catch the fairing on full lock.
But great Idea Teamster, thanks. cheers
