Air filter choice

Post by wrighty on Sun 15 Oct 2017, 4:28 pm

Custom project continues apace, heavily into the strip and elbow grease phase. My first idea was to junk air box and battery box however I see all cb500 racers are using standard airbox. Is this because it runs better or merely a regulation? K&Ns or airbox? I would really like a big empty space behind carbs...however!

Ive not heard of anyone making it run successfully without the air box.

Damn! Still I suppose that simplifies things like carb setup and I can still junk the battery box to create a look of "everything it needs but nothing it doesn't". Cheers.

Regulations and design, bike works best with the air box regardless of the jetting!

Aha! Thanks for that. Maybe I do have the option after all. Decisions decisions!

Exactly. Battery will go in tail unit to leave nothing between carbs and back wheel. Minimalist.
