Universal windshield add on?

Post by fgclark123 on Sat 23 Sep 2017, 11:04 pm

Hi, can anyone recommend a universal windshield add-on?

I'm trying to get my bike a bit more motorway friendly.

Thanks

I have the Puig Ranger. Believe me, is the best option for a Cb500.

Does that just direct wind into your helmet after all? I'd hope to have the wind go over the helmet if possible. Thanks

Hi.

Up to 80-90 km/h (60 mph) The wind does not get too strong at the helmet. Over 70-80 mph the wind is a bit strong, but not uncomfortable.

Too many people fix this problem with an air deflector over the Puig ranger windshield. I don´t know if this works.

Remember.. is a naked..

Hi, thanks. What do you mean, "remember is a naked"?

You mean the bike is meant to be windy?
Thanks

I'm often at 110+ and don't have any issues with the air unless I'm a bit close to the car/van infront and get the vortexing air, I don't have a screen fitted. Maybe try changing your sitting position and the angle of your head.

Hi,

I'm a fan of having a headlight fairing for the colder months. The larger ones make the bike feel a bit barge like, not in character at all.

You won't get one that deflects the air above your head, at different speeds the air will hit you at differing heights so some adjusting will be needed I've found. The deflected air will mean you will need earplugs.
James' don't-need-one approach might well be the way to go if your riding is backroads/filtering. At 110 for any period of time you'll be flat on the tank and putting a wanted ad in for ace bars sharpish.

Probably a very subjective thing but my experience is that the bike is better off without one even at motorway speeds. Then again I never had a problem with temperature, it was the noise I was trying to reduce and found that screens just made the air more turbulent and increased buffeting.

Anyway I have a MRS Vario screen from my last experiment for sale still ; )

Yes. I have a TDM 900 (horrible bike for me) but something positive about this bike, it's aerodynamic protection. A naked bike with great windshield, protects you on central part, but the air will enter from the sides, at high speeds.

However, on a motorcycle with full fairing, you can go at high speed even with the helmet open !! This I could check back to the CB, so I had to sacrifice this advantage for the rest of positive things.

I have to get over the motorway death-grip riding style. Gain confidence on some dual carriage.

This windscreen obsession is just my way of trying to make riding fast less... flippin terrifying.
