raising seating position?

Post by fgclark123 on Tue 19 Sep 2017, 11:12 pm

Hi, just wondering how I can get a taller seating position on my 2003 cb500.

Possibly a daft question, but if anyone knows about any fixes - maybe installing a raised seat? and/or raising the handle bars?

Curious to know if anyone's tackled this. Thanks

I found the standard seating position much too cramped, so I modified the seat to raise the position about 3" and move rearward about 5". I also fitted dropped footpegs - by about an inch.
Unfortunatly now that photobucket has moved to the dark side I can't post any pictures.

This is a pic of a bike owned by Dave500 I seem to remember, and this is what mine looks like (the seat, that is) I did it using layers of rubber foam cut from a camping mattress bought in Decathlon. The cover is good quality stretchy vinyl stapled in place using instructions seen on Delboys garage on youtube

Hi,
I went for a raised seat (looks like the one in the pic) and at 5 ft 9 found it too tall. I'd put on renthal medium high bars too, which did work out well.
Pm me if you are interested in the saddle and come and have a sit if you are close to Banbury,

Had a go at raising seat with sleeping mat foam (pics in link):

However I've long since put my original seat back on because I found the foam I used didn't return to shape after a while meaning it became really uncomfortable! I still wouldn't mind trying to get the gap filled with proper foam but haven't got round to it...
