Please help... Charging system error

Post by Cianvdw on Fri 11 Aug 2017, 5:42 pm

Hi People.
Was hoping someone could give me some advice.
I am currently unable to charge battery on my 1972 Honda CB 500.
I have checked the regulator/rectifier and even tried with a spare and the part works.
I started the bike after removing the battery from an external battery with jump leads and once the bike was on and running disconnected the red wire(Live) and the bike continued running so the alternator/stator is producing current.
I have also checked all connections and could not find any error.
It is currently being converted into a cafe racer style and have removed all dashboard lights except for the nuetral light and speedometer light.
I have been struggling with this for a while now.
I went for a 2 mile ride to test it, when i left it was 12.72 volts and when i got back it was 12.64 volts.
It has run flat on me a few times and is a 300kg bike with full fuel tank so very very hard to push start when there are no hills nearby.
Many thanks to anyone taking the time to read my post.
