Hello from Northumberland

Post by r1ncew1nd on Wed 21 Jun 2017, 10:33 pm

Hi all

Just dropped in to say hello.  Live in Bedlington, a small village in Northumberland.  Just bought a 1997 CB500.  Only done 33500 miles; have all MOT's and some years not seen any action by the previous owners (all 10 of them so she's been around a bit).

Could not upload any photos (error about storage space) so have posted in a shared Google album - hope you like the pics.

Had a CB250 for 2.5 years about 15 year ago when I used it for commuting 46 miles per day, through all seasons.  Always wanted a "big bike" but family life and promotion with a company car put the block on that until now.  For £1000, I reckon I got a bargain but I'll await all your experienced take on that.  It always had to be a CB500 though - nothing else comes close in my eyes.  I love her look and I've suddenly got some credibility with my 14 year old who I may just be slowly converting into a bike nut, especially with the sound that comes from that exhaust !

The wife thinks I'm a 46 year old having a mid-life crisis.  Well, if that's what it's called, bring it on :-)

Cheers all, and hope to spend some quality time on the forum with you all.

Welcome Steve, that's in beautiful condition! Smile
Uploading pics directly to the site has always been a bit flakey, we tend to recommend Photobucket or similar as you can copy the IMG links and paste directly in your post, it will then show the photos in your messages.

HA-HA!

Most of my user names on other forums are Discworld based, and had the full collection of his books until I lost my house and sold them instead of paying for storage

Looking great for 10 previous owners! You can put photos on any way you like - a link is fine if you want to do that.

It's only a mid-life crisis if you buy a litre sports bike or a Harley Smile So you should be pretty safe on a CB500...

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

I did even suggest to the missus that if this was a mid-life crisis, could I also have an affair ?  She agreed, but said as long as did not come back.  Ho hum.  Worth a try eh?

Thanks James. Noticed from one of your recent posts you've been studying IT ? I'm an IT Manager with a global company (Parker Hannifin). 30 years experience so happy to help any way I can if it's IT related.
