Solved renthal ultra low or renthal flats?

Post by yezmike on Fri 10 Mar 2017, 4:05 pm

i am really stuck between ultra lows and flats, i feel the flats will be easier to fit for cabling however feel they may be to low...
looking for people with both ultra low and flats to let me know the pro and con, thank you

Hi and welcome,

I have ultra lows and you don't have to do any major rerouting of cables, however they are probably not far off the limit - I likely wouldn't go any higher but looks like you're not considering that anyway. Had them for a few years and thousands of miles, no issues yet. If you currently have OEM bars they are similar rise but have less sweep meaning the controls are slightly further from the centre of the bike than they were. I don't use bar end weights with them either and get less vibes than originals.

Not tried flats.

I put renthal 759 bars on mine and they fit without problems, no issues once clutch cable is rerouted. However they transmit more vibes than oem because they don't have weights inside, I think only fasst make those. Thinking about buying flat bars as they are lower and better for attack mode

I like adjustable bars. I'm tempted to try a set of these

And they're about the same price as Renthals
Edit. A bit dearer than ordinary Renthals but much cheaper than Renthal adjustables.

It's funny how you just linked them as I bought them last week for the streetfighter but for 50mm forks https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132496901995

What do you think of them James?
I see they are only on offer for 50mm tubes, but I have a friend with the facilities to make a sleeve to adapt them to the slimmer CB stanchion.

Well...

My bike was 'modified' before I got it and (in my ownership) has only had Renthals - mine say Renthal 758' on them, which I learn (from https://road.renthal.com/shop/road-products/road-handlebars/road-se-bars) are 'road ultra-lows'. Don't know if the previous owner had to modify them - probably not.

Any sign of the adjustables yet James ?

You'll need them now of course, with your left hand on backwards an' all ?

Funny how you should post - they haven't come and the tracking says so too. I contacted the seller and they're sending me replacements with priority mailing.
I'm secretly hoping that the lost one finds its way here eventually
