TEC shocks CB500s

Post by Scorgie88 on Thu 16 Feb 2017, 8:27 pm

Evening all,

I'm one the verge of buying some TEC shocks but was wondering if anyone knows if the sizes are the same on the cb500s as on the naked? The Haynes only gives the spring free length and I'm not even sure what that is.

Ta

I believe they are the same. The TEC ones are 350mm so 10mm longer than stock so if you've got a mainstand both wheels may not come off the floor. If you're not use to them then they can be reasonably hard until you get use to them

I reckon that'll be ok, I find the OE ones a bit soft most of the time.

Cheers!

Got to be worth a go for £50, they seem to have mostly good reviews.

Good to hear, cheers mate. Gonna look like new with new shocks and my shiny new exhaust. No less than it deserves!

I fitted a set to my 94r in Dec last year. Due to the cancer the bike stood unused all through January and they have already begun to rust, quite badly actually, so took them off Tuesday at garage and fitted the RFY gas shocks I bought off Ebay.  They appear to have a good finish so should last.

My Tec shocks have been through 2 winters now and are at least 3 years old! One only has rust from pitting nothing much as it comes off with the polishing action of an old sock and that has only really happened these last few weeks. I've got a spare set sitting in my wardrobe.

I've done 18,797 miles with these fitted + a couple of hundred when my dad rode my bike and then the previous owners 800 or so miles
