How safe are your boots?

Post by Jameshambleton on Mon 09 Jan 2017, 6:41 pm

So the topic has come up about boots and what's good for protection and what isn't. I have 3 pairs of boots, sidi's, rst, and prexport so I've grabbed the top of them from the front and pulled them backwards as a test. Surprising the ones that are designed with ridged spine did the best and my rst ones that are designed for track use faired the best.

My prexport leather ones I can crush them with my hand until it's the size of a shoe.

My rst ones hardly moves.

And finally my sidi's bend a little.

How do your own boots fair?

Interesting subject which made me smile as I have not wore motorcycle boots for a long time , I use industrial lined neoprene wellies which have a steel toe cap and shank across the sole in winter and wet weather , reason for this is I ride all year round and they keep my feet warm and dry , in summer a pair of ex Army Gortex boots ,
I'll be the first to admit i'm probably not as protected as I should be so boys and girls don't copy me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wear Alpinestars Toucans. Even Chuck Norris couldn't crush them :-)

My boots are very much in James' first category - but then I'm not operating under any misinformation - I knew they weren't good! I am thinking of getting some alt-bergs when I next go boot shopping...

Mind you, almost any kind of boot that won't come off (motorcycle or not) is better than the skate-shoes that I see some people riding around in! Looking at them makes my feet hurt...
