Problem to remove left cover (Stator) pls help

Post by Crash_N_Burn on Sat 08 Oct 2016, 11:38 pm

hi folks, im new to the forum. Im from Portugal a i am a honored owner of a CB500 95  Laughing with a 40k on it.

Recently ive felt in the flood and damage the left cover (the stator one).
I get a new one to replace it but i cant remove the center cap of the cover (Item Nº 6. CAP 30MM): (sorry i cannot post links)

Could you please tell me what orientation i need to do to the Alan 10´ tool?

Should i rotate it from left to rigth (like time in watchs) to open it, or the reverse?

Sorry my newbe but i strugle a day with it and i desperate already to open.
best regards folks and tanks for the possible help!

They are often VERY difficult to remove. When I tried mine, I had the correct sized Allen key, and it just rounded out the hole.

It does turn anti clockwise (opposite of the clock!)

In the end, I hammered an old screw driver into the face of it, close to the edge, to move it in an anti clockwise direction.

Then i replaced it with a new one - they're not expensive.

I've managed to round off and crack two of mine, might be worth using an impact driver is you have one.

Tanks a lot folks for the answers!

I already managed to unscrew the Cap. Since the center was broken from own cover, it was dificult to me unscrew it with my hands, so decided to use a vise to hold the piece and then remove it. it was much more easier  Very Happy.

Heat is always a good idea! That cover certainly doesn't come off easily...
