The Shim Exchange

Post by sullivj on Sun 21 Aug 2016, 9:38 pm

For those who don't know, the idea is simple....:

Let me know what shims you need when doing your valve clearance adjustment. If I have them in The Shim Exchange, I'll post them out to you by 1st class post.

When you've finished the job, all I ask is that you post your spares back to me, so they can benefit someone else.

Already, many have benefited from, and contributed to The Shim Exchange.

If you have any spare shims, please PM me for the address to send them to. It saddens me when people 'forget' to donate their spare shims...

Currently, we have:

192

198 x 3

200 x 9

202

205

208 x 2

210

I probably will really appreciate this when I know what it is all about.
Good job, thanks.

My pleasure chaps.  I sent some more off this morning in fact.

I've asked Admin to try and attach a spreadsheet that helps to calculate what shims you need, once you've measured your gap, and know what shims are already in place.

If anyone needs the spreadsheet in the meanwhile, just drop me a PM with your email address.

Sully, maybe in the mists of time I've asked this before, but what is the diameter of these shims, as I have a box full of shims inherited from somewhere. They are the right thickness range but are probably too big in diameter as they were probably from Imp engines.
