High milage bikes on the forum

Post by liverpool_f_ on Fri 24 Jun 2016, 7:01 pm

It would be interesting if this could be an on going thread. I bought my bike with 54k on it and I considered it high. Now that it has given awesome service and has 68k, rising by 1k a month, I do not consider it high. What type of milage do other forum members have and how many have been around the clock with a bike thats still on the road? If we make a list, each time someone wants to add their bike they can copy the list so far and paste it into their post with their own addition;

Hello lads, I've fixed your list - the idea is that you add your one to the top and copy the rest of the list so it ends up like this:

50,564 - 1995 - Munky205
36219 -1997- wornsprokets
66600 -1999 - skyrider
68000 - 2002 - liverpool_f_

Now we are getting it. If you could insert your bike in order of milage as well that would blow my mind!

36219 -1997- wornsprokets
50,564 - 1995 - Munky205
66600 -1999 - skyrider
68000 - 2002 - liverpool_f_

Where is your bike ET? if memory serves it is pretty high millage.

No it has had a cbf gearbox. The valve seats have been recut and a few camchains replaced as would be expected though. It has run a manual cam chain tensioner for nearly 10k now.
The rest of the bike is about as original as trigger's broom Very Happy.
It is still on the road at present, but I plan to retire it from courier duties in a couple of months.

Andy's bike definitely wins this thread. And in fact probably many other high mileage threads out there on the internet too!

Yeah, but, as he mentioned himself, only in a triggers-broom type of way :) TBH it would probably be interesting to know what people's odometer readings are anyway.

Not that high, not that low - my bike just looks high mileage - I've updated the list:

38970 - 1998 - Freeride
48997 - 1999 - Freeride

Freeride - do you have two bikes?

Theres no shame in having a low miles example. I think budget permitting, many more of us would have gone for one

There's nothing to be embarrassed about:  I got my bike at the beginning of 2008, it had 40,000 miles on it, it now has 59000 miles on it - roughly 2500 miles a  year - so I haven't exactly put many of those miles on it!

When I purchased I wasn't concerned about the condition or the mileage - partly because of reading the posts on the old MSN site about high-mileage, reliable CB500s!

I don't think any of us are going to 'judge' you on the mileage but we might just be surprised at how you managed to find one with that few on the clock!
