side panel

Post by skyrider on Sat 18 Jun 2016, 8:05 pm

I have a left hand side panel (fuel lever side) up for grabs in plain black in reasonable nick still with the lugs, it came with the bike when i got it, I also have the right hand side one as well but that is well ropey, anyway if anyone is in need of a half decent left panel let me know Smile

I have 2 bikes, well 1 and a half now I've robbed the good bits from one to use on the other, and on both bikes, the left panel is good and the right one has problems with the lug. I think this might be a trend!! :-(

I think when I get the opportunity I might drill out the slot the lug goes into. Just by a tiny bit.

both the lugs have disappeared on mine the round and the square, so see what happens someone might be able to plastic weld some lugs on

I've got one from an old bike that had the lug replaced by a screw head bolt. It wasn't pretty as it showed through to the outside but it worked.

If you slip a long screwdriver behind the panels at the bottom of the tank and just put a bit of pressure (Gently does it) on the back side of the panel, they come out quite easily, also grease the lugs when you put them back on. Very Happy

Yes, grease the lugs. I have cracked my panel by pulling it too much - a little lubricant would have made everything easier (applies to many situations!)
