Headstock Bearing Replacement Video

Post by jerryfudd on Sat 12 Mar 2016, 8:52 am

Hi,

As I'm sure many of you do I watch the Delboy videos with great interest so was pretty keen to watch the near universal headstock bearing removal video on his Ninja 750 after having such an absolute nightmare doing it on the CB so was hoping to pick up some tips... even more so when I saw the Allballs packet as thats what I put in.

Let me just say on a CB (as many of you know) its not that easy... not even close which has frustrated me even more than having to do it Neutral

Not only is there a lip on the cup to get a purchase on but at Kawa they actually had the forethought to put a notch in the headstock to make the lip even bigger at two points either side to aid knocking it out - something you don't get on the CB.

I'm just annoyed that it can be so straight forward on some bikes but not on the CB Crying or Very sad

As he says, instead of re-greasing he just slaps in a new one and if it was that simple so would I Smile

EDIT: some links of members pains and triumphs if you want to do it on your CB

the stock ones work well enough so if the cups are good you could just get away with re-packing the current setup with grease or replacing the caged bearing. I went with an Allballs tapered roller bearing kit from wemoto. They apparently last longer and harder to fudge up when it comes to overtightening.
