Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

Brake lever (Handle)

Post by Guest on Tue 08 Dec 2015, 12:14 pm

Bike dropped - brake handle bent... Mad  happens.

Looking into secondhand replacement parts, will any of these fit? Anyone?

Honda ST 1100 Pan European (2001)
Honda NT 650V (1998)
Honda VFR 750F (1994 - 1997)

Also, if I remember well there's been a topic or at least related discussion in a topic on the issue of adjustable handles for both brake and clutch handles... can't find it. Yet. Thanks in advance...

They can be straightened easily enough using a bench vise, if you have access to one. In the past I've straightened levers using 3 large bolts or pieces of hardwood to press the lever back into line. This technique also works with alloy levers provided they aren't too far out of true.
The Honda brake lever, being flat steel, is also easy to grip in the vise and lever back into shape using a (largish) adjustable wrench.

Sorry, just read your post again - you mean the lever on the handlebars, not the foot pedal. No

UPDATE: http://avdb-moto.fr/shop/en/levier-de-frein-flip-up/438-levier-de-frein-ajustable-repliable-kawasaki-ninja-250-300-08-14.html

Which means these will fit the CB500R 1994 as well: http://www.amazon.com/POWTEC-PTL-115-Adjustable-CBR500R-X-Black/dp/B00MCJZXF4/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1449591985&sr=1-2&keywords=adjustable+levers+CB500R

Am I right?

EDIT: But I think these will be fine and at a good price: http://shop.the2wheels.com/7-Clicks-GP-Levers-Adjustable-HONDA-LE7-HO.htm Important! These are for Nissin Master cylinder.

Maybe I'm being a bit dim here but how does an adjustable brake lever not reduce braking power?
Like if you have it set to the closest reach won't the lever hitting the bar reduce your ultimate braking force? Especially if you were coming down a mountain and get some brake fade for example?

The trick is to have the lever adjusted inward enough to be comfortable for smaller hands while still far enough out not to hit the bar when fully depressed.
