6500rpm misfire / flatspot

Post by Revheadjay on Thu 11 Jun 2015, 9:25 pm

Hello,
I've got a 2002 cb500, it runs spot on up to about 6000rpm, but above that it has a fair bit of misfire then smooths out about 7000rpm but then has the odd random splutter & surging up to flat out revs, acceleration in the lower gears seems fine, in fact it rips, it's only in 5th & 6th that you notice it, please help people, it's driving me mad, air filter is clean, new plugs, balanced carbs scratch

Yeah, I would have said 'coils' too.  Might be wrong, but it's worth a try.
