Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

clutch cable routing

Good Evening

I've replaced my clutch cable this evening and was a bit concerned about the routing. Hopefully the pictures worked, if it hasn't I'll try again when I can get to a computer. I was wondering if its too close to the radiato?

Thanks!

I think that is probably fine, but I would have to go and look at my bike (not with me right now) to see if it is the same as I've got.

Sometimes there is more than one way that works...

Yeah seems to be working ok, great actually, always is freshly lubed up!

I'm just worried that on anything longer than my commute it's gonna get too hot. Time will tell I suppose, I'll have to carry a spare.

If you wouldn't mind could you post a pic of how yours is when you get a chance?

Thanks for answering all of my newbie questions eternally_troubled. Reckon I'd be cycling everywhere by now if it wasn't for you!

Mine is routed through the inside of that part of the frame after going through the holder loop FWIW but I'd imagine yours will be fine if you haven't had problems already.

In fact you might even avoid the problem of the cable rubbing where it leaves the housing at the engine end. That is what caused my last one to go and looks like better routing could prevent it but I haven't played with it so don't know.

Ah ha!  It looks like teamster's one goes a bit more 'left' than yours, away from the radiator.

I'll have to have a look at mine for comparison...

EDIT: I have looked at mine. It looks like teamster's one.

Mine goes through that guide ring, up the frame tube and then bends towards the left of the bike (towards the clutch) and goes in-between the fork legs behind or underneath the headlight.

Might be worth checking that your one doesn't go around the RH fork leg... that might explain why it has ended up in the wrong place.

Had a look at mine & it goes inside the frame at the strut by the top rad hose.

By inside the frame do you mean up here?

Not through that hole in the frame where it joins but to the left:

Here's an eBay pic which shows the cable routing quite well.
