I've got a yoshi race can on and original filter but not jetted, will it still need to be. I though it'd only need done if it was both ie can and fancy filter

It's possible. Quite a few cans that say no rejetting required run a touch lean without.  The only way to know for sure is a dyno run though you can get a good idea checking the state of the plugs after a while.
