Extended pillion footpegs

Post by Basil Moss on Thu 07 Aug 2014, 11:53 am

Hi chaps, wonder if you can offer any advise. Wifey finds the bike a bit cramped on long journeys, so I've been looking for adjustable pegs to give her some more leg room. Found some for the CB500 but at £89 a bit outside our budget. I also found some for the CBR1000 for £30. Now, I realise the folding mechanism for these is different, but from the look of it, the hanger seems to be more or less the same. Does anyone who has a CB1000 think I'll be able to bodge these to fit?

Thanks.

I don't have a CB1000, but lings suggests that the two Honda part numbers in question are:

CB500: 50711-MAN-600

CBR1000: 50711-KE8-000

If you look here:

http://www.bike-parts-honda.com/microfiches-recherche_piece-50711-MAN-600.html

you can see that the CB500 part appears to be used on a few bikes, not least a CBF1000, so you might be able to find something suitable.

On closer inspection of the bike, I've realised that the aftermarket exhaust makes this impossible.  Embarassed  Oh well... I'll have to go with my original plan of making her some kind of comfy seat cushion. I was thinking laminating it from roll mat foam, then covering it somehow, and fitting the kind of velcro strap that my tailpack has to attach it to the saddle.
