Fork replacement 1997

Post by Daniel Y on Tue 27 May 2014, 4:50 pm

Hi

Im unfortunately having to replace the forks on my cb500 97 model but Ive been having a bit of trouble locating some.  Anyone got any suggestions please??

I found some for a 94 model but don't know if they will fit since the calliper changed from Nissin to Brembo.  Are there any other differences? Will they work for me?

Cheers!

brembo and nissin callipers have the same fitment, all the forks throughout the years are the same.

Great, thanks.  What condition are they (Ive got seals and oil ready to go anyway) and how much would you want for them?

Im ringing a breakers tomorrow that are stripping 3 bikes at the moment.

Three different forks were used on CB500s. Use this website for reference.

Second that... the most obvious externally visible difference being the 94 ( L reg ) CB500R's rear lower oil drain hole. Newer bikes don't have that plus the whole spring length issue, but if you'r just wanting to know what fits your yokes and what is usable, then any year will be fine as long as you buy the matched pair!
