How to unbolt the battery cover?

Post by Pugzilla on Tue 20 May 2014, 5:11 pm

I won't be using the bike for a few months so I'm going to disconnect the battery.

What tools do I need to remove the bolt from the battery cover?

Thanks

It's a 12mm bolt from memory, I may be wrong, it's been a while since I undid it!

So, either you need a 12mm socket or wrench (if teamster is correct) or you could probably use an adjustable spanner if you had one handy. There may be a 12mm thingy in the CB500 tool kit - I don't know 'cos mine didn't come with one, but it would be worth a look if you have one.

Iirc the it might have Phillips head recesses too. The cable bolts certainly do.

10mm socket. Hard to get a spanner on it (unless it's offset type) cos of the plastic mouldings around it.
