all 09 in 1 go!...the internet was designed for surfing porn in this timescale...not motorbikes!
Thank you for your comments....the CB500 was as good on fuel, fun and general silliness as the XT- any bike can be used!
if you get a chance to subscribe on Youtube- I will be bringing out a few outakes shortly...with a few suggestions for a future trip...if you fancy coming- let me know...Sir Snipalot will be there too!

Very impressive film Rod. I too watched them all back-to-back! It must have taken you ages to edit it, but your efforts have really paid off.

What an adventure. I particularly enjoyed your tour around Rome "Come in 35"  Laughing

Thanks very much for sharing. When do you go again?

Watched it on bcf. Was sniper's cb5 that ratty tatty school bike from ride4life? Oh and rod, did you really come off on that corner or was that a shaggy dog story for the sake of dramatic cliff hangers? I only ask cos you say you'll show us a picture of the corner / road / crash site etc. but iirc it never happens.

Anyway yeah - good stuff man. Would love to do something like this. Be good to meet up sometime.

SullivJ- thank you for taking an interest in the series & production. To answer them in rough order:
1.I had been told that 10mins of Vid will consume roughly 10 hrs of editing & my previous efforts have followed roughly this model. with 3eyes2bikes...  I struggled to find a suitable storyline, after Sniper decided he didn't want to do any speaking Shocked  - ( I went through 04 separate storylines...hence the imminent release of "out takes" & further funnies.)- I did enjoy the editing though and it has made me look at other films in a completely different light, looking at how & why they chose certain scenes and music etc.

2.I am glad you liked the "Rome 35"-  Wink ...I wasn't sure if people would get that!- I was fond of the "wedding scene" in Ep03 myself and the "marks out of 10" scene at the Greece border (ep06)

I really enjoy sharing the vids & answering comments/questions-it makes it all worthwhile- so please fire away.

3.OK- what is planned next?- I have to get my life back in order and post up the outtakes etc...but if you subscribe on youtube- when they come out- you will be alerted to them immediately.  The plan with the video is to also encourage others to come along to a destination- as yet to be confirmed, either in duration, location or style of bike....I am just trying to see if people would be interested in any way.

Thank you again for your questions & comments- I hope I have answered them....

Regards

rod

Hi trevor-thanks for your comments-
Yes- that was a former training school bike- Sniper had been riding a number of CBT legal bikes before hand (c90, Yam SR125 etc)- but had killed each one- it was costing me a fortune!...so I encouraged him to DAS it....he was concerned about the increase in power/weight/insurance etc- the CB500 then allowed him to travel further to contracts ( programmer)-for me- I knew it would be a reliable bike, bullet proof and I knew its history etc....Until sniper got hold of it! ( the training school has just sold the last one now...but it doesn't get the abuse Sniper puts it through!...not least of all, leaving it outside, without a cover...despite me giving him 2...hence the RUST!!!!)

Regarding the bend- unfortunately that is all true- I have not embellished the story in anyway. (I left it in to show that anyone can come off a bike).  I did cut out some other scenes & locations, as they were not essential to the story line- Poland and parts of Germany(Dresden) were beautiful...but it started to turn into a "slide show" you might be forced to watch of your friends holiday!

The bend itself- I was speaking to camera at that point (approx. 45 mins after the accident) & when it came to editing- I thought- do I put the accident in at the begin of the scene- to set the action...or do I set it after I say "I will show you that later"- I opted to set it to set the scene...for dramatic effect. ( I also make a "boob" at the port of Igumenista- when I talk about the compliments slip, saying "I will tell you about that later"....but I don't...but there is a good reason for that, which, unfortunately...I cant go into-you will have to draw your own conclusions from that one...but an emergency passport can cause a lot of red tape ...and on returning to UK- guess who got stopped & questioned!

If you follow on for continuity sakes- after the accident- you won't ever see me wearing my watch again...It got ripped off in the accident- and so was resigned to my tank bag!- when you see me on my own, waiting for sniper (making tea)- you may notice my left shoulder never gets weight put on it....I was in agony...but manned up for camera Laughing  (how did I do?!!)
I had injured my shoulder and was unable to pick up the heavily laden bike- so had to unpack everything & then right the bike & wheel it back to the road, where I then repacked my bike, while calling Carol Nash( AA in France) - it was only once I was settled that I realised I should be filming this fully...but you can't get every shot.

The opening scene-(ep1)- showing bruising to my left leg, was taken on my return to UK- in my front living room. I forgot to photograph my injuries directly after the accident or indeed when I was waiting for Sniper to come to my rescue- if I had put that shot in with the accident- it would have looked out of place ( one moment being at the side of the road- the next in a property, showing off my leg!...the bruising took about 4 days to get to that colour & by then we were heading to Paris)
At the same accident- when I come off- I had about 20 cars drive past...and not 1 stopped.( I chose to not talk about that, as it may have given the wrong impression of the French, but my indignation towards the farmer & Mns Delbois and his helpful attitude does show; especially if you know me.)

Are you in the York area- Im often out on my bike or training- let me know ...and above all..thanks for watching critically/analytically  & commenting- I hope I have answered your questions?

Regards

Rod

So, you've probably spent over 100 hours editing - wow! Well, I'm sure lots of people will appreciate your efforts as I have.

Thanks for your replies Rod. Clearly we have a similar sense of humour and for what it's worth, I would have given her 1 too!

I'm quite surprised that the Jubilee clip / cable tie held up Ok.

All credit to your wild camping idea. I think I would have jumped at the 3 nights in a hotel offered by Carole Nash!

I look forward to seeing the out-takes.

Oh by the way, I really liked the way you showed some of the photos with the flash and shutter noise - very effective.

Thanks again. I really enjoyed the virtual trip!

SullivJ- Thank you again!
I wish it were 100hrs....I have been tardy...very tardy!- even my children knew the script by the time it went live...my "funny one liners"- were ridiculed by them....but boy can they run- when I have a stick in my hand!
The Jubilee clip (and wheel alignment!) held magnificently and it did cross my mind to risk it to UK...but by then, I thought I could not compromise anything further...so I bottled it & Jerome came to my rescue!

The 3 night "trick"- a delightful ruse!- employed by the AA- who care deeply for your welfare.
The bike could not be fixed(or so they thought)...so they offered me an AA hotel ...at my cost!
despite knowing we had a tight schedule (based on the passport) to maintain.  Tactic 2- an offer of a car to get me to the port....useless unless it had a roofrack to put the bike on ...or option 3- a van,,,,but lo & behold- they could not get one in the whole of France!- I had to be off the road for 3 days before they would even consider that -despite knowing everywhere was closed( for 3 days...no brainer you might assume)...Mns Dubois was loving it!...until he saw my fix!

Im still waiting for the AA to give me a welfare call!- filthy individuals!

Thanks for the photo spot- my website will have ( by the end of the weekend) oodles of the originals- not used- if you sign in- there's a gallery for you to laugh at...all with captions!

Thanks again.

fancy coming on the next one?

Neat trick: Get hold of a Chromecast, which allows you to watch the whole series on your livingroom TV. Most people watch Youtube on their phones or computers, but Rod's (and Sniper's) journey deserves better than those puny little screens.

I ended up seeing ep 2-9 in one go.

Awesome! The idea. The trip. The production of the episodes (editing, cutting, inserting sound, photos and whathavewehere). Just awesome.

And like others, I'm unable to cut out an entire month or more for executing a project like this one.

Piles of streetcred to you guys for doing so - pursuing your goals!

Morning Stormbringer!
I have just read about the Chromecast- it looks like a great piece of kit- that will go on my list of what to buy & thank you for your kind words.

I too struggled to justify the month off- The real story is I had been looking after my father at my home for the last 10 months- He has dementia & finally, when I couldn't cope any longer- he went into a care home...I didn't put that into the film- it would have bored too many..but..
I was absolutely knackered!....my lovely wife "ordered" me to disappear for a month ...and so the plan was hatched.  She looked after our business and the kids & I disappeared off!...without her- none of this would have been possible.

She has kindly granted me more leave...(I think she likes the space away from me!!)...so trip 2 will be planned when Im caught up with work....but I do understand fully about the time off juggling!
Thanks again!
